Type 12 semi-pelagic trawldoor

The TYPE 12 semi pelagic trawldoor can be considered as our “in between” trawl door.

The TYPE 12 semi-pelagic trawldoor is an all-round medium aspect trawldoor, that is used for different kinds of fishing setups such as bottom fishing, semi-pelagic and pelagic fishing both in deep water and in shallower water.

Performance wise the TYPE 12 design have proved itself when trawling on the bottom. It is very popular in Iceland and we have trough the years received very promising feedback from captains. Among others, vessels as Kleifaberg, Vigri and Breki have been fishing very well with the TYPE 12s.

The design allows us to build the TYPE 12 very strong for longer lasting and low maintenance.

The setup for TYPE 12 can be custom made to be light weight or heavy and strong, all depending on the customer needs. Most of the ones in use are constructed with heavy wear shoes and strong main plates for fishing in rough conditions on hard bottom.

TYPE 12 trawldoors are built with bolted on wear-shoes, wear-knives, or a flat wide mud-shoe.

The TYPE 12 is a more efficient trawl door than a regular bottom door. The shape of the trawl door and its foils generates more spreading power than regular designs.

The type 12 comes in following models:

  • TYPE 12 – Standard / Light weight
  • TYPE 12 – Iceland / Heavy duty

The weight can be customized to suit special requests.
