We are very proud of our TYPE 32 & 42 BLUESTREAM designs – the only trawl door on the market that has both our patented moveable foils, which can minimize the total area of the doors and thereby adjust spreading power and water resistance. In addition, the design is unique because it can be customized for the vessel’s needs or specific fishing patterns. This design fits perfectly on the stern or on the side of the vessel. 

The doors are typically manufactured in HARDOX450 or STRENX performance steel with a size and weight specified to suit the trawl and speed used for each fishery.

Once the balance of weight has been calculated and suited to our satisfaction, the doors are constructed and include the following: HPU (High Pressure Unit), Software, Adjustable hydraulic foils, height sensor, hydrophones, WIFI antenna, and Subsea Lithium batteries.

Our software is an open-ended design that can be customized and adapted to a captain’s specific needs or preferences.

The system in the trawl doors is being controlled via wireless acoustic communication from hydrophones that are installed in the hull of the vessel. The hydrophones get their commands from the captain on the bridge, who controls the software.

Key adjustment possibilities include:

• Changing or keeping a certain fishing depth.
• Keeping the doors off the bottom (less environmental impact and less CO2 emissions).
• Controlling the depth of doors individually or simultaneously.
• Shooting and hauling faster (less CO2 emissions).
• Counteracting strong tides.
• Decreasing or increasing resistance and spread from trawl doors (less CO2 emissions).
• Controlling pitch and roll.
• Changing the fishing setup in no time, without crew on deck.

All above-mentioned headpoints are achievable with our controllable trawl doors and will result in a more economical and environmentally friendly fishing setup that will lead to less CO2 emissions pr. kilogram of caught fish, while also resulting in a better profit.

Piston & foils

• Each foil movement goes from 100% (maximum spread) to 0% (minimum spread) and can reduce the surface area in total by up to 27%
• When the upper foil is more open than the lower foil, it generates lift and makes the trawl door roll in more and fly more.
• When the lower foil is more open than the upper foil, it generates less lift and makes the trawl door roll less, be straighter, and dive more.
• If set to AUTO-DEPTH mode, the foils will operate and adjust according to pressure the on a depth sensor in the system.
• The pistons connected to the hydraulic system are made of stainless steel and are very well protected.

Battery & charge station

• The lithium batteries are made for subsea usage and can go down to 1,000 meters in depth.
• To charge the battery from 0-80% power will take approximately 2 hours.
• To charge the battery from 0-100% power will take approximately 4 hours.
• The charging cabinet is positioned on the vessel no more than 20 meters away from the trawl doors.
• You can easily charge the batteries while they are still in the trawl doors.

Software

• The software is very easy to use and with a few clicks, the doors are in movement.
• The software can be set in different modes to control the trawl doors.
• The software is an open-end program so it can be customized for your specific needs.

Hydrophones & installation

• We use our own customized subsea hydrophones.
• The hydrophones can work in both mesh-system and broadcast mode.
• The hydrophones can receive/send signals up to 2,000 meters.
• Two hydrophones must be installed on the vessel and two on the trawl doors.
