Two trawldoor designs build together into one powerhouse of a trawldoor. What’s not to like?

The TYPE 42 BLUESTREAM is by far the most powerful trawldoor design that we have ever made. The CL/CD measured in SINTEF Flumetank in Hirtshals was after several tests of different constructions spot on and we released the design for trials onboard the Swedish / German vessel KRISTIN.

After trials done in different fisheries the feedback from the Captain, Ola Hansson was clear;

“We were looking for even more powerful doors, but do not have height enough in the gallows for higher doors. After discussion with Thyboron they offer us to test their new model Type 42 and we invested in doors, bottom parts, and software for controlling the doors. We downsized to 12 square meter doors, it’s no problem to handle the doors due to height and now we have much more spread efficiency and can use a bigger trawl with bigger volume and cover more water and bottom volume.”

The new design does ensure higher spreading power than what previous models have been capable of, but most import is that the new design has a great stability in the water while being towed and they come nice and straight up to the galleys. Even fishing on the bottom, the TYPE 42 BLUESTREAM have shown great stability.

Due to the assembled design include two trawldoors the new TYPE 42 BLUESTREAM are much stronger in the base-construction and will be longer lasting than previous models.

As one of our patented features, the TYPE 42 BLUESTREAM also comes as a FLIPPER model. The FLIPPER system has also gone through an improving development since we have now made the moveable foils much easier to use and it is now possible to have it as either a manual, hydraulic or full controllable solution. These features are already known from previous models.

On the TYPE 42 BLUESTREAM its possible to decrease the spreading power by up to 27%, at the same time as reducing the resistance created by each door by up to 25%.

We are very proud of our TYPE 42 BLUESTREAM design. The design is unique because it can be customized for the vessel’s needs or specific fishing patterns.

The doors are typically manufactured in HARDOX450 or STRENX performance steel with a size and weight specified to suit the trawl and speed used for each fishery.
